You hid in the obscured, dense trees as a pirate ship sailed close by. You expected it to sail elegantly past your small island, unknowing about the hidden wealth it held. However, it let out a smaller boat that headed for the island. You were shocked – What if they were coming to invade?! You had heard of the dreadful things that pirates did to their slaves. A shudder passed through your body as you recalled the stories of torture and starvation that you mother had told you when you were young. You hid yourself just a little bit more, to avoid being seen. The small boat eventually rolled up onto the shore. Out climbed what looked to be a very rich pirate captain ~ handsome and with an air of inevitable danger surrounding him. His blonde hair was very unkempt and his green eyes pierced the place that you were hiding. You heartbeat escalated at the prospect at being discovered by this pirate. Even the word disgusted you. His gaze was soon averted, toward the man still sat in the boat. The man had dirt all over him, and had a smug, toothless grin plastered on his face. When he spoke, his voice was harsh and quite threatening.

‘Right. ‘Ere’s your gun, an’ your money. Make sure this is the last we sees of you!’

The small man let out a throaty, gruff laugh before falling into a fit of coughs.

“Thank you for all the kindness that you have showed me in my years of being your captain”

The blonde one replied, his British accent heavily tinted with sarcasm. You observed silently as the man in the boat rowed back to his ship, which soon left – as if nothing had happened. Turning your attention back to the stranger, he removed his crimson jacket and his captain’s hat before sitting down of the powdery sand. As you realised that you had just watched a mutiny, you slowly, soundlessly, walked out of the trees – directly behind the man. As if he could sense you being there, he called out

“Whoever is there, would you please be kind enough to show yourself.”

His voice was irritable. You slowly walked out of the canopy of trees and spoke in your clearest English (As it was not your native tongue)

“Hello. I don’t mean to be rude but what are you doing on my island?”

You spoke briskly, wanting to get away from this pirate.

“Your island? Who says that this island is yours?” He questioned

“I would like you to know that I was born on this island, and have never known anywhere else.”

“So that means that there is more of you.”

His voice sounded disappointed, as if he wished it to be just you and him. You nodded and sat down on the sand beside him. Both of you sat there in silence. You were incredibly nervous as you were convinced that he would kill you – you had heard a few too many horror stories about pirates when you were growing up. Seeming to read your mind, he turned towards you and spoke in that very attractive British accent

“Just so you know, I will not kill you and your family – I don’t appreciate treating other people as slaves and that is why I am stuck here.”

His voice was soft, and gentle. You believed that he truly meant it. You nodded, and smiled at him. Not a forced smile either, you figured that he must be worried about whether he’ll live or die, so you wanted him to feel reassured. (He was also quite cute)

“Since you don’t know this island, or how to live on it, would you like me to teach you?”

You spoke with a new found confidence. He nodded vigorously

“Yes, I would greatly appreciate that. Thank you so much. My name is Arthur Kirkland, by the way.”

He held out his hand, offering you to shake it.

“[name] [last name]”

You said, shaking his hand firmly

You stood up and walked in to the trees. He quickly followed suit, and together you began arranging some fallen branches into a structure. You then proceeded to cover the roof with thick Alocasia and banana leaves. The burning sun didn’t help the pace of things and soon you both had to take a break from the work and the heat. After that, you gave him a crash course on what to eat and what to avoid, before finishing off the makeshift hut. You then let him choose some things to eat, correcting him when he went wrong, and then.... You walked away. He knew the basics, and he had a roof over his head. You had no more to teach him – that was essential anyway. He didn’t need you, and your village would never need to know. At first he didn’t notice you walking away, but when he did, he stood up and watched you as you stopped walking. You turned around and said to him

‘Don’t you want a tour of the island then?’

This was not what you intended to do, but he needs to know his way around, right? Just a quick tour of the island wouldn’t hurt. He smirked and followed you through the trees. Walking along with him, it seemed as if a new sun was shining down on the island. You finally saw the true beauty of your home, the bright colours, the animals, the sounds, everything. You and your previous blindness to this magnificent beauty that for so long you had just ignored shared his fascination in this new wonderland. You walked and walked until you reached a cliff face. You stared up at the rocks and walked to your left for a bit. Soon you came to a thin, rocky, dangerous looking path. You looked at your bare feet and mumbled

“Why didn’t I wear shoes?”

before continuing up the rocky path. He followed, cautiously – broken from the trance. The sharp, small rocks dug into your feet and made you wince slightly at the sharp transition to this, from the smooth earth. After a 5-minute hike you both reached the top of the cliff. The view from it showed the whole island that was inhabitable. The sand, forest, rocks all were familiar to you, but the look of sheer amazement on Arthur’s face was one that you remembered clearly. Your first visit here was one of bewilderment and awe.  You floated off down memory lane, whilst he was memorized by the present. After you both slowly floated out of your trances, he turned to smile at you. It was more of a smirk really, but it gave you uncontrollable butterflies in your stomach. You felt a warm glow spread across your skin and you ducked your head so that he wouldn’t see. He walked, slowly, towards you. You only realised that he had moved closer when his shadow lay at the floor. Glancing up, he gently placed his arms around your waist. You stared into his emerald green eyes, utterly absorbed in a world where only you two existed. Your lips brushed his slightly. You wrapped your arms around his neck and pressed your lips against his. But it was not to last. As soon as you realised what was happening, you pulled away sharply.

“I cannot do this, it is wrong.”

You turned and walked away, a small tear forming in the corner of your eye. He’s a pirate, I can’t be with him. It is wrong. you thought. You heard his footsteps behind you and so started to run. You eventually reached your village. You walked calmly towards the village hall, and then turned left. After a short walk you reached his house. Knocking on the door, you slowly walked into the hut. You saw him sat at his table. He smiled and gestured for you to sit down, a wrinkled smile illuminating his aged face. His greying hair caught the afternoon sunlight, and looked sliver.

“[name], what brings you here?”

He spoke with wisdom and kindness

“Grigor, forgive me for intruding, but, there is a problem.”

Your words were rushed and panicky

“Tell me about it.”

His voice had changed from being soft to hard, concern was also obvious in his speech
“A pirate ship came close by, and dropped off the captain. I think it was a mutiny. I helped him, and now I fear for the life of the people who live here. It may have been a trick, so they can all massacre us and take our wealth. I feel as if it is my entire fault. But I want him to be telling the truth, for I think that I love him.”

You said it all in one breath, before hanging your head, in indescribable shame. He thought about it for a second.

“So why did you come to me?”

“Because you are also like him, from the outside world. You would know.”

“Did you get his name?”

“Yes, Captain Arthur Kirkland.”

“Yes, I know him. He wouldn’t hurt us. It is no trick, and I give you my blessing to love him.”

At that moment, deafening screams were emitted from the village, filled with panic. You raced outside, hoping that it wasn’t Arthur. It was. He was stood there, looking around frantically for you, whilst avoiding the things being thrown at him. He caught you eye and raced over to you. He wrapped his arms around you before whispering in your ear

“I love you, [name]. Please love me too.”

“I do, I love you too Arthur.”

He let you go and turned around, only to be faced by an army of armed, and angry villagers. He grasped your hand tightly.  Your father yelled at him

“Leave here, stupid pirate, go pillage another island. Leave us alone and LET GO OF MY LITTLE GIRL!!”

“I am not here to pillage you, I was forced here - it was a mutiny. And I would like you to know that I love her very much.”

“[name], is this true?”

Your father questioned

“Yes, He loves me and I love him. He is no danger to us, just ask Grigor.”

Your father grunted and replied.

“Fine, you can be with him, provided that he never enters the village again.”

“Alright then, I’ll see you soon.”

You led Arthur through the crowd, who were still unhappy that he would live. You smiled at him as you both walked out of the village and back to his hut, where you made a table and a bed. The sun was setting over horizon as you sat with him on the beach, the very spot where you met him. Your hands entwined, he lent down and kissed you. You kissed him back and the day turned into night.

The end
Okay, I know that it is a bit strange that You and Iggy fell in love in like, half a day. But It took me so long to write this that I just didn't want to waste anymore time on it. So, I hope that you enjoy it!!
